We hope you are well. We’d like to take this opportunity to invite you directly to our next branch meeting on Thursday next week, 18 March, at 1pm. This is a slightly different branch meeting to those we usually hold in that the purpose of the meeting is to give you an opportunity to raise concerns and put forward ideas. We want to hear from you!
We’re mindful that a lot of new members have joined since the pandemic, that everyone is isolated, and we can all really learn from one another’s experiences of work this last year. This branch meeting will be an opportunity to meet fellow union members and people in other parts of the university from those in which you work. We will have participatory break-out room discussions to explore how we can mobilise around the recent branch motions and about management’s response – including to the Covid Allowance Petition you supported and which we reported on last week.
We are mindful of the various impacts that working from home is having on you and your capacity to attend meetings, so we cannot stress enough that we want this branch meeting to be as accessible as possible. Bring your lunch, bring your kids and pets if you need to (or if you cannot get your cat to stop sitting in front of your laptop).
We hope to see many of you there and to hear your thoughts on how QMUCU can respond to issues both new and ongoing.
