Management are proposing to merge SED and SLLF – and have both failed to meaningfully consult with staff over the proposals, and failed to guarantee there will be no compulsory redundancies. Staff in SED and SLLF have already written to Senate and Council asking that they postpone any decision about the merger until staff have been able to work on a proposal.
A strong show from the union in the form of a YES vote is essential in fighting back against these proposals, and to send a clear message to management that wherever you work in the university, and whatever role you do, you expect them to uphold your right to be meaningfully consulted about future changes to the terms and conditions of your work.
