This industrial action is important, without it, university bosses, including our own, will not address the serious issues of pension stability, pay deflation, workload, casualisation and pay inequality.
The last strike made it clear, if we don’t take action, university bosses will keep eroding our pay, pensions and working conditions.
Strong industrial action will also allow us, as a branch, to confront the bullying and insecurity faced by so many at Queen Mary.
Doing nothing means being part of the problem.
Tomorrow is a big day and the key chance to make our dispute visible more broadly.
Here’s the agenda:
0800 to 1100 — Picket at Whitechapel and Mile End
1000 to 1100 — Teach out on climate change in the Chaplaincy
1100 to 1115 — Depart Mile End for the Pay, Pensions and Planet march.
We will depart from outside the Queen’s Building at ~1110, walking to Stepney Green and then tube to Euston Square. It is then a short walk to Mallet Street for the start of the march at 1200.
Details of the march are here.
