On Tuesday, 26 November, 2019, Day Two of the Pay, Equalities and Pensions disputes, Apsana Begum visited the picket line at Queen Mary’s Mile End Campus.

Apsana is a Queen Mary graduate and Labour Party candidate for Poplar and Limehouse.

Apsana took the time to listen to picketers’ stories about the reasons for the dispute, made a short speech and posed for a group photo.

Queen Mary students have shown us lots of solidarity and support around the issue of gender and pay inequality. They realise that they will be graduating into a workforce that does not deliver fair remuneration and prompotion opportunities irrespective of gender and race.

The candidate for Poplar and Lime was heading next to the launch of Labour’s BAME manifesto, so we asked her to direct to comments to issues of equality in the workplace.
