Students have been an inspiration in their mobilisation to raise awareness about climate change. Our students’ union deserves your support for activities on Thursday and Friday.

The Queen Mary Students’ Union (QMSU) has been working hard to organise events in in support of the Climate Strike on Friday, including liasing with union activists from throughout Tower Hamlets.

Yesterday, at the QMUCU branch meeting, the following motion of support was passed:

The Queen Mary branch of the University and College Union recognises that climate change is a critical issue facing humanity.

The branch supports the Queen Mary Students’ Union’s efforts to mobilise students for the Climate Strike on 20 September, 2019.

The branch further encourages members to join the march from Library Square to Burdett Road, assembling from 12 and marching from 1215.

The branch further calls on the Principal and President of Queen Mary, University of London to encourage all line managers to enable colleagues to support our students by joining the march and protest.

In addition to the march and protest, QMSU has organised a discussion forum, tommorrow (Thursday), starting 7PM in David Sizer Lecture Theatre (Francis Bancroft Building).

Two flyers (single side and double sided). If you are meeting students, you might want to highlight the activities to them. A great opportunity for them to start discussions about how collective action can make a difference. If you can join the students on Thursday and/or Friday, they will be grateful for the solidarity.

Supporting the climate strike is both UCU and TUC policy.
