Two colleagues from SBCS have a letter in the latest issue of The Lancet condemning the “mindless managerial rampage spreading through Queen Mary, University of London”. They observe:

we are looking at the end of the road for unique and internationally leading-edge Queen Mary research… The list is long. Alas, there are no boxes to tick for advances in knowledge and understanding—no metrics for science itself.

They also raise serious concerns about the restructuring process, notably the “ludicrous” nature of targets set, the failure of the metrics to identify unproductive individuals rather than cutting off the budding careers of new researchers, and they suggest that the Head of School’s own metrics should place him “at risk”.
